Sara Lee said Thursday it’s getting out of the retail store business and will close its 11 outlet stores by the end of November. Locally, Sara Lee has outlet stores in Homewood, 183rd Street and Governors Highway; Oak Lawn, 5701 W. 95th St., and on Chicago’s Southwest Side, 4028 W. 59th St.

A spokesman said the company has to focus resources on “production and distribution of products and cannot direct and resources and attention required for success in standalone retail operations.”

The company has nine outlet stores in the Chicago area, as well as a store each in Michigan and Wisconsin. The closings will affect about 75 employees, the company said.
