A 25-year-old Orland Park man accused of killing a 51-year-old Lockport woman Sunday morning in a drunken crash has a long history of being in trouble with the law, including a drunken-driving charge in 2009, police said.
Matthew Senica, of 13711 S. 88th Ave., on Monday was charged with felony aggravated DUI in connection with the two-vehicle crash Sunday that killed Heidi Roseen, an intensive care unit nurse who was driving to work at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn when she was killed, police said.
Senica is to appear in court at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Bridgeview courthouse, a Cook County Sheriff’s police spokeswoman said.
Senica has been charged with at least six crimes, ranging from reckless conduct to battery, in the past six years, police said.
The list includes:
A drunken-driving charge in Palos Heights on April 30, 2009.
Domestic battery in the 15100 block of South Ravinia Drive in Orland Park on April 1, 2011.
Domestic battery at his home on Jan. 9, 2009.
Battery that caused bodily harm, in the 15200 block of South 80th Avenue in Orland Park, on Sept. 15, 2008.
Criminal damage to property in 2007.
Reckless conduct in 2006.
The outcomes of those cases were not immediately available Monday.
Senica was driving south on LaGrange Road in a pickup truck when he ran a red light at 95th Street and LaGrange Road, slamming into an SUV driven by Roseen, police said.
Roseen had the green light, said police, who estimate Senica was driving 60 mph to 70 mph.
Senica told police he had been drinking since Saturday evening, a Cook County sheriff’s police spokesman said.
Senica suffered only minor injuries, and there were no passengers in either vehicle, sheriff’s police spokesman Frank Bilecki said.
Thomas Roseen, who would have celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife in August, said Monday he was pleased to learn that charges had been filed in the case.
Meanwhile, the family has made arrangements for services for Mrs. Roseen.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Modell Funeral Home, 12641 W. 143rd St. in Homer Glen.
A memorial service at a time to be determined will be held Friday morning at Ashburn Baptist Church, 15401 S. Wolf Road, Orland Park.
Thomas Roseen said the couple have three children: Gretchen, 27, Audrey, 24, and A.J., 21.
