A Chicago man died and two women were injured in a rollover crash early Monday in Dolton, officials said.
Alcohol was found in their vehicle, police said.
The one-vehicle crash happened about 3 a.m. on the ramp from southbound I-94 to westbound 147th Street, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Steven Tufenkjian said. The Chevrolet Suburban was traveling at a high rate of speed when it rolled on the ramp, officials said.
The driver — identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as James J. Parson — was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Tufenkjian said.
Parson, of the 1600 block of North Monitor Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:18 a.m. at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Two female passengers, ages 23 and 40, were taken to area hospitals in stable condition, police said.
Tufenkjian said alcohol was found inside the sport utility vehicle.
The ramp was closed as crews investigated but was reopened by 6:30 a.m., police said.
