DOOR COUNTY, Wis. — Authorities say a Will County man has confessed to killing his girlfriend while the couple were in Wisconsin’s Door County to attend a wedding.

Sheriff Terry Vogel identified the victim as Alisha N. Bromfield, 21, of Plainfield.

A suspect in the homicide was identified as Brian M. Cooper, 35, of Plainfield.

Cooper was arrested in Sister Bay, Wis., after police found Bromfield’s body inside a motel room at a resort. Cooper is expected to appear in Door County Court at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Cooper’s address is listed as 2437 Oak Tree Lane in Plainfield.

Tony Brasco, a neighbor of Cooper’s, was shocked to hear about the homicide charge.

“He’s laid-back, real quiet,” Brasco said, adding that Cooper mainly kept to himself.

Cooper has lived in the townhouse for several years, Brasco said.
