Teachers in Evergreen Park School District 124 have set next Tuesday as a strike date, after a negotiating session ended Monday night with no progress, Supt. Robert Machak said.
District officials and union representatives met from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and they plan to return to the bargaining table at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Machak said.
The earliest that teachers could’ve walked out is Friday, but that’s now next Tuesday with the setting of the strike date.
The school board has offered a four-year contract while the Evergreen Park Federation of Teachers seeks a three-year deal.
The board is offering pay raises based on the Consumer Price Index, with bonuses based on student test scores.
The teachers want raises of at least 3 percent each year and are against bonuses based on scores.
