ROMEOVILLE — Police believe a 20-year-old Frankfort woman died from a possible heroin overdose Sunday while visiting a friend at Lewis University.
According to reports, police were called at 11:10 a.m. after Anna Marinier was found dead in a residence hall. She was not a student there.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Marinier had died from an apparent overdose of drugs, possibly heroin, according to a statement issued by Lewis University.
The Will County coroner’s office said Marinier was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:55 a.m. The coroner has not ruled on the cause of death, pending toxicology reports, the office said.
According to reports, Marinier was on campus visiting her friend, Jamie L. Olson, 21, who “(took) steps to conceal her involvement in this incident,” police said.
Olson, of 9125 Letterkenny Drive, Tinley Park, was charged with obstructing justice and was being held Monday in the county jail. Olson has been restricted from campus pending a university judicial hearing, according to a university statement.
“The Lewis University community expresses its prayerful sympathy to all who are touched by this tragedy, especially family and friends,” the statement read.
School officials said counseling was available on campus and the university continues to cooperate with police and the coroner.
