Palos Hills police said a drunken man arrested for DUI told police he was going to harm children at a school and come back and shoot people at the police station.
Michael L. Lynch, 31, of Palos Hills, was arrested for drunken driving at 2:26 a.m. Monday in the 8800 block of 107th Street, according to a release from Palos Hills police.
While in custody, Lynch referenced Friday’s mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., several times while making his threats, and made comments about harming himself, the release said. He was then charged with disorderly conduct and taken to a local hospital for treatment, the release said.
After his arrest, Palos Hills police removed guns and ammunition from his home “for safe keeping,” the release said.
No one from the police department was available to comment late Tuesday afternoon.
