Traffic on northbound Interstate 57 was backed up Monday afternoon because of a multivehicle accident near the 159th Street exit ramp, according to Illinois State Police, but all lanes were open by 4 p.m. for the evening rush hour.
Two cars were involved, and there were no serious injuries, police said.
The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. Only one northbound lane was open, and the 159th Street exit ramp from the northbound lanes was closed.
