Teachers told the New Lenox School Board “enough is enough” and demanded it meet with the state’s attorney look into the actions of board member Maureen Broderick in an electoral dispute.
Teacher union President Katie Kollross claimed Broderick improperly removed Kathy Miller from the ballot in this April’s election.
Broderick has denied any wrongdoing.
School board President Nick DiSandro, who supported Miller, said the district has wasted about $9,000 so far in attorney fees on this issue, which is not over.
Miller won her appeal in court and is back on the April ballot. She amended her suit to include a civil rights violation, which is pending.
Board member Sue Smith stands by her “no” vote against Miller, saying she made the right decision based on the information at the time. She said she did not understand case law the attorney cited because she, herself, is not an attorney.
