A Robbins teenager is being held without bail after being charged with burglary and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a Tuesday night incident at a Midlothian cell phone store, authorities said.
Rashawn Taylor, 17, who appeared Thursday in bond court, will be held without bail because he allegedly violated a previous bail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and residential burglary charges, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. His next court date is Feb. 28.
Taylor was one of two teens arrested after they allegedly broke into ABC Wireless, 3328 W. 147th St., at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and held police off for five hours. The other suspect is a 14-year-old juvenile, police said.
After realizing it might be juveniles inside the store, and that one had a handgun, Midlothian police called in the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, who surrounded the store and tried to talk to the two boys via store telephone and bullhorn, to no avail, police said.
SSERT entered the store at 2:27 a.m. and took the pair into custody without incident.
The juvenile also is expected to be charged, police said.
