Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Feb. 28.

SWINGIN’ SOUNDS: Oak Lawn Community High School’s Junior/Senior Lounge will be transformed into a student jazz club with five jazz combos, three vocal jazz ensembles and two jazz bands. The school’s Music Department will present the inaugural Swingin’ Sounds at the Southwest Supper Club at 6 p.m. at 9400 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn. Tickets are $15 (or $10 for ages 12 and younger) and include nonalcoholic cocktails, food and jazz. Band director and saxophonist Paul Levy will play tunes with the student rhythm section. BLACK WOMEN ROCK: In celebration of Black History Month, the inaugural Governors State University Black Women Rock award ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. at 1 University Parkway, University Park, in Sherman Hall.
