Valerie Harper, best-known as wise-cracking Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and its spin-off “Rhoda,” announced that she is suffering from terminal brain cancer.
Her doctors say she has as little as three months left to live, Harper said in an interview with People magazine.
“I don’t think of dying,” said Harper, 73. “I think of being here now.”
Harper learned she had leptomeningeal carcinomatosis on Jan. 15. The rare condition occurs when cancer cells spread into the fluid-filled membrance surrounding the brain.
As Rhoda Morgenstern, Harper won four Emmys as either sidekick to Mary Tyler Moore or as lead actress on “Rhoda.”
