Orland Park teen dies from injuries from being hit by car

A 17-year-old Orland Park girl who was hit by a car Friday morning while walking in the middle of U.S. 30 has died, police said.

Rosabel Gutierrez, of the 15100 block of El Cameno, died Monday afternoon at Stroger Hospital in Chicago, police said. Her organs were donated to the Gift of Hope Foundation and funeral arrangements are pending.

Police said that prior to the accident, Gutierrez was at a party in Park Forest with Lemanuel J. Pitts, 21, of the 100 block of Illinois Street, Park Forest.

Pitts has been charged with one count of providing liquor to a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Gutierrez was hit by a car while wandering along the roadway in the 3600 block of Lincoln Highway at 5 a.m., police said. She was taken to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, then airlifted to Stroger Hospital in Chicago.

Police are still investigating.
