A Frankfort pediatrician due in Will County court Tuesday afternoon to face battery and sex abuse charges got an earlier court appearance, at his lawyer’s request.
Kishor N. Jain, 59, of 767 Tanglewood Lane in Frankfort, faces 10 criminal counts of sex abuse and five counts of battery.
Jain had been working as a pediatrician at Hedges Clinic, 222 Colorado Ave., in Frankfort. He no longer works there, a clinic supervisor confirmed, and has had his medical license suspended by the state Department of Professional Regulation.
Jain was scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, but his attorney, Gerald Kielian, got him an earlier appearance, at 9 a.m. His next court date was set for April 25.
Jessica Schubbe called police in August 2011 after she was allegedly fondled by Jain during an office visit for her child. In January, she filed a civil lawsuit against Jain with the same allegations.
Schubbe’s lawyer said media coverage of her lawsuit gave other women the courage to come forward to Frankfort police, which led to the criminal charges, police said.
Jain turned himself in to police Feb. 15 when he learned of a warrant for his arrest on the criminal charges. He posted bond and was released.
Besides the criminal charges, Jain also faces three civil lawsuits, including Schubbe’s, filed by women accusing him of fondling them during office visits.
