Here are events worth getting out of the house for on July 16.

Suggestions include Homewood, Midlothian and Chicago Ridge.

MONTHLY TRAVEL MOVIE: Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will screen a travel film at 10:30 a.m. Attendees can visit a different travel site each month for some breathtaking, exotic and interesting locales. Information: (708) 798-0121, Ext. 279 or homewoodlibrary.org.

BLOOD DRIVE: Midlothian Public Library, 14701 S. Kenton Ave., hosts this from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those who plan on attending should call the Reference Department at (708) 535-2027 to schedule a time to donate. Information: midlothianlibrary.org.

baby quilts for courage: Chicago Ridge Public Library presents this at 6:30 p.m. at 10400 Oxford Ave. Attendees will learn to create four-patch and rail fence baby quilts, which will be donated to the Courage Program, a ministry at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Oak Lawn. The volunteer organization is built on compassion, advocating for pregnant young women and their families. Jackie Lorenz will teach the class for adults.
