Bat found in Tinley Park was rabid

Updated: September 29, 2013 6:44AM

A bat found in the 16400 block of Beverly Avenue in Tinley Park tested positive for rabies, the village said Tuesday in a news release.

The village said that pet owners should keep their pets on a leash when outside of their home, and that pets should be current on their rabies vaccine.

Residents are advised not to handle any bats, skunks or other wild animals. If any bats or skunks are found down or dead on residents’ property or roadways, the residents should call the Cook County Department of Animal Control at (708) 974-6140.
