THE SKINNY

Marian Catholic (14-1, 3-0) started fast and cruised to the East Suburban Catholic Conference road win over host Joliet Catholic (9-11, 0-2).

TURNING POINT

Three different Spartans combined to hit five three-pointers during the opening quarter as the visitors took a 26-9 lead late in the first.

THE STAR

Marian Catholic’s Tyler Ulis was the lone Spartan in double figures with 17 points. He did not score until the 3:33 mark of the second quarter. Freshman T.J. Smith added nine. Joliet Catholic’s Jalen Jackson (18 points) and Colton Kolowski (13) reached double figures.

BY THE NUMBERS

Marian Catholic led 26-11 after a quarter, 35-19 at halftime and 54-33 heading into the fourth. Fourteen of 15 rostered players scored as the Spartans made 10-of-25 (40 percent) three-point shots.
