An Orland Park man is facing felony charges for stealing money from donation baskets at three Catholic churches, according to police.

David A. Kost, 28, of the 15000 block of Park Station Boulevard, is charged with two counts of theft from a place of worship and one count of misdemeanor theft, police said in a news release.

Police set up surveillance Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 15050 Wolf Road, after they were notified by Cook County sheriff’s police of thefts from donation baskets at nearby churches, police said.

They said a man, later identified as Kost, was arrested after he was seen entering and leaving the church about 6:30 p.m., and he admitted taking $14 from the donation basket.

Police said Kost also admitted to similar thefts at two other Catholic churches — St. Michael in Orland Park and Our Lady of the Woods in Palos Township.
