A woman in a silver sport utility vehicle tried to lure a student from Jack Hille Middle School in Oak Forest into her vehicle Wednesday morning, according to a letter from the school’s principal posted on the Forest Ridge School District 142 website.
At about 7:25 a.m., the student was approached by the woman, who asked if the student wanted a ride to school, the letter said. The student said, “No,” and the woman said, “OK. I’ll be right back” and drove away, the letter said.
The incident took place near Boca Rio Drive and Arroyo Drive, and the student reported that the first three digits of the license plates are “K 36”, the letter said.
The woman was described as white, in her mid-30s, with short, straight blonde hair and wearing a white sweater, and Oak Forest police were notified about the incident, the letter said.
Anyone with information about a suspicious vehicle matching this description is asked to call their local police department or the Oak Forest police at (708) 687-1376.
Police also looked into a Wednesday incident at St. Damian School in Oak Forest that they do not believe is related, Police Chief Greg Anderson said Thursday.
He said a man told school officials that he wanted to donate stuffed animals to needy kids but that he wanted to make the deliveries personally. Because it was an unusual request and against school policy, school officials became suspicious, Anderson said. School officials researched the individual’s name via an Internet search and believed he was wanted in Dickinson, Texas, for a sex offense, Anderson said.
An investigation found no evidence the man wanted in Texas was the individual involved in the incident at St. Damian, Anderson said.
