Once it leaves Orland Plaza early next month, Miroballi Shoes will find a temporary home on LaGrange Road while construction continues on its new store.
Miroballi will open in the former New Balance outlet behind Houlihan’s restaurant on the east side of LaGrange at 161st Street. New Balance moved to a new store on 161st.
The retailer will open a permanent store in a retail center it is building at the northwest corner of LaGrange and 144th Street. Miroballi had originally hoped to open there by March or April, but the new space probably won’t be ready until this summer, Franco Lafiandra, a store manager, said Tuesday.
He said Miroballi likely would be in the temporary space by the first week of February.
Miroballi is one of several stores vacating Orland Plaza, which will be demolished as part of the village’s Main Street redevelopment project. The development includes construction of high-end apartments and retail space.
Orland Park is spending $7.5 million to buy the shopping center, northwest of LaGrange and 143rd Street, and is borrowing $62 million to finance the Main Street project. The village will take ownership of the shopping center property next month.
