Frankfort residents will have two opportunities to learn about the upcoming referendum on electric aggregation.
In the March 20 primary election, residents will be asked whether to allow the village to negotiate electric rates on behalf of residents. State law allows communities to combine small businesses and residential customers as an entity to negotiate with electricity providers for better rates. Residents can opt out if they prefer to negotiate a rate individually.
An informational meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at Grand Prairie School, 10480 W. Nebraska St. An informal open house will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 29 at the village hall, 432 W. Nebraska.
“It is our intention to provide information and respond to questions from residents regarding the proposed aggregation program so they can make an informed decision on the March ballot,” Mayor Jim Holland said.
