Orland Park Bakery is leaving its longtime home in Orland Plaza on Feb. 5 and will reopen Feb. 8 at its new location in the village.
It’s among several businesses being displaced from Orland Plaza, 143rd Street and LaGrange Road, which the village is buying as part of its Main Street redevelopment project.
The bakery will be open Feb. 5 before moving into the new site, 14850 LaGrange Road, which is behind IHOP in the Dania Furniture Plaza.
On Feb. 10, the bakery will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m. Gift cards will be raffled off, and there will be other prizes and specials throughout the day.
The village is paying $7.5 million for Orland Plaza and will close Feb. 14 on part of the property — the western section through which Ravinia Avenue will be extended north.
Another area, west of the planned extension of Jefferson Avenue, will be acquired Feb. 21.
Tenants of the plaza that haven’t already moved will close their doors as of Feb. 14.
However, the village board on Monday is expected to approve a 30-day extension to Bloomingfield’s Florist & Gifts, which intends to move to a retail center at 143rd Street and Wolf Road.
The extension is being granted partly because Feb. 14 is Valentine’s Day, among the busiest holidays of the year for the shop.
