Mokena restaurants eye summer openings

Updated: July 6, 2012 9:58AM

Two restaurants are planning summer openings in Mokena’s The Boulevard development, northwest of LaGrange Road and 191st Street.

Scrementi’s Italian Grill expects to open in about a month in the retail center, while Legends Grill and Bar is likely to open in August. Scrementi’s previously operated a restaurant in Mokena on 191st east of LaGrange, but was forced to close when the building it was in was foreclosed on, Alan Zordan, the village’s director of community and economic development, said. The owner of Legends currently has a location in Yorkville, Zordan said.

Scrementi’s will be a bit more than 5,200 square feet while Legends will be about 4,500 square feet, Zordan said. Scrementi’s owner Sam Scrementi said he plans to have 1,500 square feet of patio dining.

Also this summer, perhaps by late June or early July, Southland Oncology Center will open a 9,000-square-foot cancer treatment center in Building D in the Boulevard, Zordan said.

Zordan also said that White Castle, 9550 W. 191st St., plans a grand reopening June 3. The restaurant was closed for an extensive renovation that began earlier this year.

Also in the works are plans for a 30,000-square-foot truck dealership on Spring Lake Road on the south side of Interstate 80, Zordan said.
