Orland to consider liquor licenses

Updated: June 1, 2012 5:42PM

Orland Park trustees will be asked at Monday’s village board meeting to approve a packaged liquor license for Whole Foods Market, which is opening a store this fall.

Board members also will be asked to consider upgrading liquor licenses held by five Walgreen stores in the village.

Whole Foods plans a 27,000-square-foot store in the former Borders book store at 15260 LaGrange Road. The market is seeking a Class B license that would allow the sale of beer, wine and liquor.

Walgreens now holds licenses allowing the Orland Park stores to sell packaged beer and wine, but the drugstore chain is asking for Class B licenses to add liquor as well. In an agenda item for Monday’s village board meeting, the chain is citing consumer demand as the reason behind seeking the enhanced license.
