Business workshops in Southland

CenterPoint — the small-business development center at Governors State University — is sponsoring free workshops in the Southland for people interested in starting a business.

The workshops will focus on the personal, financial and legal aspects of starting a business. Participants will learn what steps to take and what resources are available to assist entrepreneurs.

Workshops will be presented from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave.; from 6 to 8 p.m. June 13 at the Richton Park Community Center, 4455 Sauk Trail; from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 18 at Old Plank Trail Bank, 20901 S. LaGrange Road, Frankfort, and from 9 to 11 a.m. June 20 at Tinley Park Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave.

‘Women and Money’ seminar in Tinley

NuMark Credit Union will host a free seminar titled “Women & Money: Are You Ready for a Change?” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 12 at NuMark’s Tinley Park office, 8001 W. 159th St. Participants will learn how to organize important papers and review investment goals.
