Orland chamber to mark Savers opening

The Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce will take part in a ribbon cutting at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 16 for Savers, a resale shop at 15625 S. 94th Ave., Orland Park.

The 28,000-square-foot store will occupy space in a strip shopping center that formerly housed Season’s End and Teachers Delight stores. Privately held, Savers has more than 280 thrift stores in the U.S., Canada and Australia. The for-profit retailer typically pays local charitable groups for clothing and household goods they collect, which are then resold in its stores.

Ice cream social for Tinley chamber

Members of the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce and their families are invited to an ice cream social from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at Salina’s Pasta, Pizza & Catering, 7551 W. 175th St., Tinley Park. For information, contact the chamber at (708) 532-5700.

Mini-golf challenge in Oak Forest

The Oak Forest-Crestwood Chamber of Commerce will hold a mini-golf challenge from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 28 at El Morro Park, Victoria and Arroyo drives, Oak Forest. The cost is $5 and will feature lunch and a round of miniature golf. For information, call (708) 687-4600.
