Wal-Mart seeks employees

Wal-Mart is hiring about 85 people to work at its expanded Bedford Park store, 7050 S. Cicero Ave., which is expected to have its grand opening this fall. The retailer said it has set up hiring kiosks inside the store, and applicants can also go to http://careers.walmart.com.

The kiosks will accept applications during store hours, from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. The company is filling full-time and part-time positions.

Moraine to hold job fair Sept. 27

Moraine Valley Community College will hold a job and internship fair from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Moraine Business and Conference Center, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

The registration fee for businesses that want to take part is $100, and registration forms can be downloaded from the college’s website, morainevalley.edu/jrc. For information, call (708) 974-5313.

Chicago-area jobless rate eases

The unemployment rate in the Chicago metro area was 9.2 percent last month, down from 10.8 percent in July 2011, the Illinois Department of Employment Security reported Thursday. Year over year, the metro area added 30,200 jobs.
