Orland Realtor to head organization

The Mainstreet Organization of Realtors said Fridy that Tonya Corder, managing broker of Keller Williams Preferred Realty in Orland Park, has been appointed MORE’s new president for the coming year.
Corder says she plans to build on the momentum of MORE’s 2011 merger with the Realtor Association of NorthWest Chicagoland that made MORE the largest local association in the state and the fourth largest in the nation.
“The merger has been a resounding success, but my goal now is to move forward as one organization,” Corder said.
Corder started her real estate career in 1994 as an agent with Century 21 Dabbs in Homewood. Prior to real estate, she worked as a vice president at insurance brokerage Marsh & McLennan in Chicago.
“We are a geographically diverse association that serves hundreds of suburban Chicago communities from the Wisconsin border down to Indiana,” she said. “I would like to also find more ways to promote diversity in culture, ethnicity and age.”
Corder says she plans to create a diversity task force and recruit a wider range of candidates to the organization’s leadership program.
The Lansing resident said she also hopes to draw more younger real estate agents into MORE, noting that “about 60 percent of our members are baby boomers, while less than 20 percent are millennials.”
Corder said she has been with Keller Williams since January 2011 and supervises 142 agents.
MORE has about 14,300 members.
