Dialysis center coming to Oak Forest

A kidney dialysis center expected to open in the spring could boost business for the 159th Street corridor in Oak Forest.

At least that’s the hope of city officials, according to a news release in which Oak Forest and Net3 Real Estate announced that Fresenius Medical Care of North America, a national provider of kidney dialysis services and renal care products, will open a facility at 5340A W. 159th St.

The facility will have 12 dialysis stations, the release said.

“Our plan has always been to redevelop this area, and this is the first step in that process,” Mayor Hank Kuspa said in the release. “It is an effort to increase the tax base in this city.”

A groundbreaking took place Oct. 16.
