Lunchmeat company Land O’ Frost beefs up

Lansing-based Land O’ Frost, the nation’s largest family-owned packaged lunchmeat company, said Wednesday it has signed an agreement to buy Wimmer’s Meats, a leading provider of specialty sausages and hot dogs based in West Point, Neb.
The purchase is expected to close before the end of next month, and terms were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of Wimmer’s will open new markets for Land O’Frost and help us continue to grow our company,” David VanEekeren, president and chief executive of Land O’ Frost, said in a statement.
As part of the transaction, Land O’Frost will acquire all of Wimmer’s assets including its entire brand portfolio which includes the Wimmer’s, Basset’s, Fairbury and Ambassador brands and the company’s Nebraska manufacturing facility.
Futurity names Tinley branch manager
Futurity First Insurance Group said it has appointed Troy Roddy as manager of Futurity’s Tinley park branch. A Palos Heights resident, Roddy previously served as regional manager at Western & Southern Financial Group in Orland Park. He has also worked with firms such as New York Life and Metlife.
