Mr. Tightwad’s money-saving tip: Make your own snow ice cream (it’s cheap)

Updated: February 14, 2012 10:19AM

Mr. Tightwad’s so cheap, he saves extra salt packets from restaurants to de-ice his driveway.

That plan is really paying off today. But here’s another Tightwad way to take advantage of all that snow in your yard. Put 8 cups of snow in a bowl (stay away from the yellow or brown stuff, it doesn’t taste very good). Pour one 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk over the snow, then add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix it all together and serve it right away before it has a chance to melt.
