Here is a look at top events you won’t want to miss.

Suggestions include the BACinema screening of “Monsieur Lazhar” at the Beverly Arts Center and Cirque du Soleil’s runs at Allstate Arena and the United Center.

BACinema

The Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago, will continue its weekly film series with Canadian movie “Monsieur Lazhar” on June 20.

Information: (773) 445-3838, beverlyartcenter.org.

‘Dralion’

This is my favorite Cirque du Soleil show, so I’m thrilled that the tour will be coming through the area from June 20 to 24 at Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont, and June 27 to July 1 at the United Center, 1901 W. Madison St., Chicago.

Information: (800) 745-3000, cirquedusoleil.com.

Weekend

June 15’s Weekend magazine will feature Southland suggestions to celebrate Father’s Day.

Some of the articles already are available in SouthtownStar.com’s Entertainment section.

Also for June 14, 2012

Carpe Weekend launches a revamped format focusing on a main entertainment event with a couple of other picks for the weekend. This installment includes the Great Canal Caper in Lockport, author Kim Strickland in Chicago’s Beverly community and Five Guys Named Moe performing in Blue Island.

There is also a movie review of “Rock of Ages,” which will screen early at some theaters.

Jessi Virtusio blogs about music, movies and much more on Elaborating on Entertainment at blogs.southtownstar.com/entertainment.
