Actor, producer and director Scott L. Schwartz is in the midst of a week of fundraising events and appearances to show his support for Alicia’s House Food Pantry.
In 2011, he helped Alicia’s House Food Pantry raise more than $50,000.
Officials said he is a essential part of the fundraising for Alicia’s House Food Pantry along with former Chicago Cubs pitcher Milt Pappas, and former Cubs catcher Randy Hundley.
Their week of fundraising was to include Tip A Star, featuring celebrities serving for tips, at Aurelio’s Pizza in Crete.
They also were slated for a return visit to Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (formerly Children’s Memorial Hospital) and events at Manteno Veterans Home and the Egg & I.
A celebrity golf outing is set for Sept. 15 at Lincolnshire Country Club, 390 E. Richton Road, Crete. Golf will be followed by dinner with the stars and the popular silent auction.
Schwartz is known as the ultimate bad guy from his acting career, which includes feature films and TV shows such as “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Starsky & Hutch,” “Spider-Man,” “Fun With Dick and Jane,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “The Mentalist” and “Castle.”
What most fans don’t know is that Schwartz is the ultimate nice guy, as he has been visiting children’s hospitals worldwide for the past 14 years after losing his sister to lung cancer in 1998.
He said he realizes the value and impact of making a lasting impression on children with cancer and how important it is to make each child feel special.
Scott added that he enjoys visiting pediatric hospitals and bringing what joy he can into the lives of every child he visits because they are always smiling during his visits and usually begging him to return soon.
Schwartz was the recipient of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County Glass Slipper Guild Award, an honor that others like soccer player David Beckham and singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani have received.
The Scott L. Schwartz Children’s Foundation is making a difference in the lives of each child in need by continuing to visit hospitals worldwide, helping Alicia’s House Food Pantry, CHOC, Toys for Tots Foundation and various children’s hospitals worldwide.
