Knights, falconers and jugglers will roam Crete Public Library during its annual Fall Family Fun Fest from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at the library, 1177 Main St., Crete.
The fest will include a renaissance faire featuring entertainment and activities in the spirit of the Renaissance.
Medieval and Celtic music will set the mood as a roaming jester performs magic and juggling. Games and face painting will be provided by the library’s children’s department. Other events will include pony rides, a photographer capturing visitors’ “Medieval Moment,” and food and drinks.
“We wanted to give the community something unique this year that was both entertaining and educational, as well,” said administrative librarian Jane Schulten.
Falconer Mark Booth will present a program about medieval falconry in the middle ages and the role of birds of prey in the environmental balance of nature. Medieval knights will show replica weapons and armor and perform a swordfight.
Talent is provided by Caton Enterprises, Ltd., of Huntley, Ill.
