Get Up and Go! for March 5, 2013

Here are events worth getting out of the house for on March 5.

Suggestions include Mokena, Oak Lawn and Flossmoor.

IRISH DANCE: The Mokena Community Public Library, 11327 W. 195th St., will host Blackbird Academy of Irish Dance at 7 p.m. for those who want to get an early start on St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. There will be St. Patrick’s Day hats, beads and treats. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in green attire. Registration is suggested at (708) 479-9663. Information: mokena.lib.il.us.

‘DOWNTON ABBEY’: Barbara Geiger will present “The Making of Downton Abbey: Setting the Scene” at 7 p.m. at Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 Raymond Ave. The landscape historian’s lecture will include inheritance laws that produced estates like the namesake of TV show “Downton Abbey” (Highclere Castle in real life). NINA KOZIOL: The South Suburban Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. at Flossmoor Community Church Community House, 847 Hutchison Road. Author Nina Koziol will discuss plant selection. The public is welcome. Information: Diane Costello, (708) 747-2842.
