MILITARY SERVICE: The issues facing veterans and the people who care about them will be discussed during “Deployment, Homecoming, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)” at 1 p.m. in Governors State University’s Engbretson Hall, 1 University Parkway, University Park. “COOK COUNTY MATTERS”: Cynthia Schilsky, president of the League of Women Voters of Cook County, will answer questions following a 30-minute presentation to introduce the audience to Cook County government. The Cook County board president and 17 Cook County commissioners are up for re-election in 2014. The 7 p.m. (6:30 p.m. doors) presentation will take place at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., (708) 798-3600.
