Get Up and Go! for April 16, 2013

Here are events worth getting out of the house for on April 16.

Suggestions include Monee, Oak Forest and Blue Island.

FISHING FOR TRASH: The Forest Preserve District of Will County sponsors this free, all-ages program from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily to Sunday at Monee Reservoir, on Ridgeland Avenue, west of Illinois 50 and south of Pauling Road, two miles south of Monee. Visitors to the fishing and boating lake can collect trash during the week and earn a reward for their help. Information: (708) 534-8499, reconnectwithnature.org.

CLEAN UP DAY: Volunteer registration is due at (708) 535-4090 for this Saturday event, the kickoff to Clean Up Week from Monday to April 26 when Oak Forest residents can dispose of unwanted household items at the curb with their normal trash pickup. Information: oak-forest.org.

RAISE THE ROOF: Blue Island Fraternal Order of Eagles 1332 will kick off a fundraising raffle that will take place each Tuesday at 2427 Grove St., Blue Island. The events are open to the public. Tickets are $5 and one must be present at 9 p.m. for a chance to win the progressive pot. Information: (708) 388-9739.
