Here are events worth getting out of the house for on July 9.

Suggestions include Palos Heights and University Park.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE: Licensed teachers can earn this or bilingual endorsement via Trinity Christian College, 6601 W. College Drive, Palos Heights, in one year. All six courses of this adult studies accelerated program will be offered online in September. A second language is not required for ESL endorsement. An online information session will take place at 9 or 11 a.m. or 3 or 6 p.m. Registration: (708) 239-4768 or adultstudies.trnty.edu.

ALTERNATIVE TEACHER CERTIFICATION: Students can earn an elementary or secondary (biology, chemistry or mathematics) professional license and secure a teaching position through this Governors State University program. An information session will take place at 7 p.m. at GSU’s E-Lounge, 1 University Parkway, University Park. The Teacher Quality Partnership leads to a masters of art in teaching degree in urban teacher education.
