Here is a look at what’s going on in the Southland.

Orland Township Youth and Family Services’ Community Link will host two free trainings for suicide awareness and prevention.
These trainings will be facilitated by Riveredge Hospital, which uses curriculum from the Jason Foundation.
Anyone who has a major influence in the lives of young people may join in the battle against youth suicide.
According to the Jason Foundation, educators, youth workers and coaches can educate themselves and their schools on the warning signs associated with youth suicide and how to help.
This training will provide two continuing education units or continuing professional development units for counselors and educators.
The sessions will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday and 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 23. The curriculum is the same for each of these trainings.
Registration is required with Orland Township Youth Services at (708) 403-4001.
Dress for Success
Orland Township Youth and Family Services’ Community Link is joining forces with Cook County Circuit Court Judge Donna Cooper, of the Sixth District of the Circuit Court, and Dress for Success.
The program originated with Circuit Court Judge Michael Stuttley, who is now retired.
The Sixth District Circuit Court is collecting gently used dress clothing such as dress shirts, ties, polos, khaki pants and jackets for young men who are attending court.
This program is an effort to develop self-esteem regarding the way these young men will begin to see themselves and to instill respect for the court.
Orland Township Youth and Family Services will host a Dress for Success clothing drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Orland Township, 14807 Ravinia Ave., Orland Park.
Those with any gently used items listed above may drop them off at the township office. Information: (708) 403-4001.
