Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Aug. 26.

DIABETES EDUCATION: The Tinley Park-Park District will present this program at 10 a.m. at the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center, 8125 W. 171st St. Approximately 17.9 million people have diabetes and 5.7 million people are undiagnosed. STANLEY KUBRICK FILM DISCUSSION: Homewood Public Library will screen “2001: A Space Odyssey” at 6 p.m. at 17917 Dixie Highway. The 1968 adventure and science-fiction mystery stars Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood and William Sylvester. Rated G for general audiences, the film’s running time is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
