Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Sept. 20.
Suggestions include Tinley Park, Orland Park and Oak Lawn.
PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS: Kirby School District 140 conducts preschool screenings for ages 3 to 5 who are not enrolled in kindergarten. Children must be residents of District 140, which has schools in Tinley Park and Orland Park, or attending a parochial school within the district’s boundaries. Children will be screened in the areas of speech and language, fine and gross motor development, and concept information. Vision and hearing also will be checked at this time. The screening is an opening for parents to see how their child is progressing in areas of development. Appointments: Department of Special Services at (708) 342-5525.
ARTSY GOOD GALLERY SHOWCASE: The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, 5100 Museum Drive, will feature its first late night of the school year and will be open until 9 p.m. The showcase, which will begin at 6 p.m., features more than 50 pieces of children’s artwork on display. The suggested donation is $5 per person. All proceeds will benefit the art program at the museum. Information: (708) 423-6709 or cmoaklawn.org.
