Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Oct. 11 and beyond.

OKTOBERFEST: The village of Glenwood and the Homewood Area Chamber of Commerce will present this event from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday at Glenwoodie Golf Club, 19301 S. State St., Glenwood. There will be authentic German food, live music, imported beer and a dachshund parade (2 p.m. Saturday). LANSING AUTUMN FEST: This second annual event is from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Foxe Pointe, Ridge Road and Henry Street, Lansing. There will be music at the main festival including Eddie Korosa Jr. and his Boys from Illinois (polka) and the Unstoppables (classic rock) on Friday. A second stage will feature family entertainment across the street near the clock tower at Park Plaza at Ridge Road and Grant Street. There also will be a chili cook-off and raffle.
