Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Nov. 14.

“Mode In Medium”: This exhibit of George Peterson oil paintings wraps from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at South Suburban College’s Dorothea Thiel Gallery, 15800 S. State St., South Holland, on the fourth floor in the Art & Design hallway. The show features selected paintings executed before, during and after the emerging artist’s time in graduate school. Peterson received his master of fine arts in painting at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Original Sewing & Quilt Expo: This event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 Convention Center Drive, (708) 342-5485.
