Get Up and Go! for Dec. 12, 2013

Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Dec. 12.

Suggestions include Oak Lawn and Chicago Heights.

“Abstract Impact”: Prairie State College, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, wraps this exhibit in the Christopher Art Gallery. The show features Midwest artists Zach Mory, Steve Leavitt, Sharon Swidler, Barbara Cooper, Michael Hopkins, Mary Burke, Cristal Tucker and Shelley Gilchrist. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and by appointment. Information: (708) 709-3636.

Pink Out Game: Oak Lawn Community High School hosts this annual event at 4:30 p.m. at 9400 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn, to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer. The Spartans fundraiser features the girls varsity, sophomore and freshmen basketball teams along with the freshmen boys. T-shirts will be sold for $10 each with proceeds going to girls basketball head coach Janet Meyers’ sister Mary Haubenreiser, who was diagnosed in October with stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer.
