Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Dec. 19.

Suggestions include Oak Lawn, Tinley Park and Flossmoor.

Gingerbread House Program: The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, 5100 Museum Drive, continues this annual tradition to Friday while supplies last. Fee is $5 for a preassembled house, frosting and candies. The museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Information: (708) 423-6709 or cmoaklawn.org.

Santa’s Workshop: Tinley Park-Park District offers this program for ages 6 to 12 at 4:30 p.m. at the Tony Bettenhausen Recreation Center, 8125 W. 171st St. Attendees can make Christmas stockings and ornaments.
