Get Up and Go! for Jan. 3, 2014

Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Jan. 3.

Suggestions include Palos Heights, Homewood and Tinley Park.

Yo-Yo Man Show: Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave., will present Barry North, who is known as the Yo-Yo Man, from 10 to 11 a.m. for this Youth Services program. He will entertain, motivate and instruct children of all ages on how to spin a yo-yo. Information: Debbie Larsen at (708) 448-1473 or palosheightslibrary.org.

Shakespeare Discussion Group: Homewood Public Library will host this group’s meeting from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at 17917 Dixie Highway, The group generally meets on the first and third Friday of every month to discuss works by William Shakespeare. Information: homewoodlibrary.org or (708) 798-0121.

Season 1, Episode 1: “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”: Tinley Park Public Library, 7851 Timber Drive, will screen this from 7 to 8 p.m. Snacks and drink will be served during this program for teens.
