Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Jan. 10.

Knitting Sit-In: Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., presents this program for all ages and skill levels between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dolores Janowiak will lead, and teaching materials will be available to get one started. The Children’s Museum In Oak Lawn: Volunteer orientation takes place at 4:30 p.m., but the museum does not take court-appointed hours. It also will be a late night at the museum, which will be open until 8 p.m. Information: (708) 423-6709 or cmoaklawn.org.
Meet The Artist: Orland Park Public Library, 14921 Ravinia Ave., hosts this event with Rene Romero Schuler from 7 to 8 p.m. The internationally recognized artist is exhibiting her work in January.
