Get Up and Go! for Jan. 31, 2014

Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Jan. 31.

The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn: Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 5100 Museum Drive due to a private event. Information: (708) 423-6709 or cmoaklawn.org.

Fractured Fairytales: Union Street Gallery, 1527 Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights, hosts this free family-friendly event from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Storytellers, creative writers and comedians read or present an original fairy tale or a rewrite of a classic. Costumes and props may be featured. Ready-to-read narratives will be available for nonwriters who want to participate. Storytellers must register in advance at unionstreetart@gmail.com or (708) 754-2601. Walk-ins will be welcome but are not guaranteed to perform at the event. Information: unionstreetgallery.org.

No Limit Laughs: Orland Park Comedy Improv presents this comedy show for ages 18 and older at 8 p.m. at Old Village Hall, 14413 Beacon Ave., Orland Park. Tickets are $6 at the door. Information: (708) 403-6100.
