Here are events worth getting out of the house for on Feb. 18.
Suggestions include Park Forest and Palos Park.
Close To You: Music Of The Carpenters: Freedom Hall’s Nathan Manilow Theatre, 410 Lakewood Blvd., Park Forest, continues its Matinee/Senior Theatre series at 11 a.m. with this show featuring singer Lisa Rock and her six-piece band. Tickets are $13. Information: (708) 747-0580 or freedomhall.org.
History Luncheon: The Center, 12700 Southwest Highway, Palos Park, hosts this event from noon to 2 p.m. Palos Park librarians Jeannine Kacmar and Sheila Sosnicki will provide an illustrated presentation on the stories and photos behind “Palos Park,” the book highlighting the village’s history as immigrant farmland, artist colony, hikers’ paradise, golf destination and eventually a metropolitan suburb. Included in the book, written by Kacmar in partnership with Arcadia Publishing, are several photos and stories revealing historical glimpses into the Center’s past. The luncheon cost is $17 per person. Advance reservations are required. Information: (708) 361-3650.
