Updated: March 22, 2014 6:24AM

Here is a Chicago Heights event worth getting out of the house for on Feb. 21.

Prairie State College Jazz Fest: This 26th annual event is set for 7:30 p.m. at the PSC Conference Center Auditorium on the main campus, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights.

Featured musicians include Chicago trumpeter Orbert Davis, drummer Ernie Adams, bassist Larry Gray, New Orleans saxophonist Ed Petersen and PSC music professor Valerie Nicholson on piano. The Southland Jazz Ensemble, a professional big band, also will perform.

The concert is part of PSC’s annual two-day festival, which also includes clinics led by featured artists. The clinics are for local junior high and high school jazz musicians to receive instruction in technique and performance from the jazz masters.

The event will include the fifth annual Howard Luckey Excellence in Jazz Leadership Award being presented to PSC adjunct instructor Roland Rose, who was at the inaugural PSC Jazz Fest.

Concert tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students or seniors.
